In this last chapter of remote negotiations, I review the dos and don'ts of VC negotiations.

Quick tips:

  1. Check your voice and camera in advance

  2. Make sure you get the time zones right

  3. Watch out for body language

  4. Think and prepare as this was F2F

  5. Dress like a pro

  6. Validated that the other party supports your VC vendor, let them know in advance, they might have internal company security policies inhabiting them from connecting

  7. Check in advance that your hardware and software work

  8. Provide an alternative VOIP only and land line option for participants that are traveling or have a bad internet connection.

  9. Make sure you have a good camera

  10. Let them see you!

  11. Don’t substitute a video feed of you for a presentation

  12. Treat the call as if F2F

  13. If you're in a conf room, decide in advance who will sit where
